Every hide used in a Mauricio Becerra piece is sourced from a single tannery holding active certification from the Leather Working Group.

The Leather Working Group is a global standard body dedicated to promoting sustainable and ethical practices within the leather industry. Certification requires demonstrated compliance across three critical areas:

Environmental responsibility: the responsible management of chemical use, water consumption, and energy across all stages of production.

Resource efficiency: the optimized use of raw materials to minimize waste at every point in the manufacturing process.

Rigorous waste management: the accountable handling and disposal of all byproducts generated during leather production.

Certification is not self-declared. It is independently audited and renewed on a defined cycle. We did not ask our tannery to meet this standard. We chose them because they already did.

Sustainability is not a feature of what we make. It is a condition of how we work.
